What is peace?
Five exhibitions over five years explore one of the most important and challenging questions of our time: What is peace?
We live in a time when the number of conflicts is at a record high, and defense budgets are rising alongside the number of people being killed in war. At the same time, talking about peace is increasingly seen as naïve.
“In this landscape, it is important that someone speaks about peace as a possibility,” says Kjersti Fløgstad, Director of the Nobel Peace Center. From 2026 to 2030, the Nobel Peace Center aims to be a place for conversations and reflections on peace.
Over the course of five years and five exhibitions, the Nobel Peace Center will explore what peace is, what it has been, and what it can become. Together with artists, researchers, and other experts, visitors are invited to engage with different perspectives, participate in the conversation, and contribute to reflection. The goal is to inspire as many people as possible to discuss and engage with questions of peace.
