Why is it so easy to wage war, and so difficult to create peace?

The conversation takes as its starting point two current exhibitions at the Nobel Peace Center: Paths to Peace, which offers a historical overview of humanity’s attempts to create peace, and A City of Ghosts, a powerful and personal photo diary by Fatma Hassona (Gaza, 1999–2025).

While Paths to Peace invites audiences to explore what peace is, has been, and might become, A City of Ghosts turns its gaze toward our own time, and through the power of photography, depicts ongoing conflicts and their human consequences, which may also reflect history.

With this as a backdrop, the conversation connects the historical with the present: What can we learn from past peace processes and peace efforts, and why is it still so difficult to create lasting peace?
