Along one of the walls at the Nobel Peace Center, Norwegian artist Renate Thor is creating a gigantic mural. Her 16 meter long mural is a colorful backdrop to the exhibition KlimaLab –an exhibition about the climate, nature and people that is on display til November 2019.

"The climate question is for me, personally, like a giant puzzle, there are many pieces that is needed to be in place for the climate crises to be solved, and we can all play a part in getting some of the pieces in place."
– Renate Thor

Thor is a graphic designer and illustrator and has, for the most part, worked with illustrations for children´s books and textile art. She uses bright colors and shapes that moves between the abstract and figurative. Thor was commissioned by the Nobel Peace Center to create a piece about the climate crisis, and this is her first time creating a mural of this size. Some of the shapes in the piece are inspired by plants, rocks, animals and people. They are all placed as if the shapes are depended on each other to stay afloat.

"The planet is a bit off balance, It takes effort to make everything fall back in place. But we can all play a small part in the big picture, and each contribution counts."
