Fieldwork

The participants of the workshop together for a group photo.

In the first workshop, 20 Oslo residents were engaged in a series of creative exercises over two days that involved using the senses to explore and convey the stories of the peace prize laureates. The participants, who did not know each other beforehand, were divided into groups to collaborate on telling a story. They worked with portraits of the laureates, colors, sound, and materials, and over the two days, they created a visual collage to convey a story or emotion.

1. Visual exercises:

The groups started with portraits of the peace prize laureates, where everyone chose one or more portraits that resonated with them for some reason. They then sat together to explore the portraits, share why they selected them, and investigate any connections between the laureates. Some faces and organizations were familiar, while others were entirely new. This gave participants a visual approach to storytelling.

objects and images combined as a collage.

2. Tactile exploration:

The groups worked with textures and materials to create tactile representations of the laureates' work. They used various materials such as silk, stone, and wood, which became part of the visual collages.

3. Sound and music:

The groups explored sounds and music that could represent peace and the laureates' efforts. They used everything from classical music pieces to sounds from nature, compiling audio works that complemented the visual collages.
