The Nobel Peace Conference and Festival will gather Nobel Peace Prize laureates, nuclear experts, decision makers and activists in Oslo on Hiroshima Day 6 August 2025.

The Nobel Peace Conference 2025 celebrates Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nihon Hidankyo’s work for a world free of nuclear weapons. The same day, the world marks 80 years since the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima. Together with civil society organizations in Oslo, the Nobel Peace Center will mark the day also with a public festival outside the Center before, during and after the conference.

This is the seventh annual international peace conference organized by the Nobel Peace Center. With the testimonies of the survivors as a backdrop, and in a time of international tension, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, decision makers, experts and activists will discuss today’s nuclear threat and look at solutions which strengthen the work to ensure that these weapons are never used again.

Under the title “A Message to Humanity”, the conference will welcome a representative of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2024, Nihon Hidankyo, back to Oslo. Their Assistant General Secretary Masako Wada will hold the opening keynote when the conference starts at 13:00 CEST. Among the other speakers are the Nobel Peace Prize laureate from 2023, Narges Mohammadi from Iran, and representatives from the prize winning organizations ICAN and Center for Civil Liberties in Ukraine. Norway’s minister of foreign affairs, Espen Barth Eide will sit down in conversation with Stefan Löfven, former Swedish Prime Minister and Chair of the Board of SIPRI. Among the other speakers are Professor Benoît Pelopidas, physicist Zia Mian, activist Penelope Lea and the Chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Jørgen Watne Frydnes.

ABOUT THE NOBEL PEACE CONFERENCE
