Event
The power of dialogue
Why do we sometimes talk past each other, even with those we are closest to? This evening is for those curious about how we can speak together more effectively.
We will take a deeper look at the power of dialogue in the relationships you encounter in everyday life. Perhaps it is about communication at home, with a partner or children. Or maybe you’re facing a challenging collaboration at work, where better dialogue could make daily life easier.
Registration:
The event will be held in Norwegian.
When you purchase your ticket, you can also preselect which breakout session you would like to attend. The choice is not binding; it is only to give us an idea of the distribution across the different rooms.
Conversation:
We invite you to join the conversation from 17:30 – 19:00, with Deeyah Khan, Arbab Dar, Hedvig Montgomery and Chro Borhan. Together, we will explore why friction arises in daily life, at home and at work, and what steps we can take to be better prepared when it happens. Which actions can we take to prevent conflicts, nurture our relationships, or repair them when things have gone a little off track?
Meet the participants in the conversation:

Deeyah Khan, Film director and human rights activist

Arbab Dar, Country Managing Partner, EY Norway

Hedvig Montgomery, Psychologist and specialist in family and couples therapy

Chro Borhan, Head of Dialogue, Nobel Peace Center
Breakout sessions:
After the conversation, you can take part in one of three different breakout sessions, running from 19:00 - 19:45. Choose between:

Kulturkompaniet on security and belonging in the workplace
We spend about one third of our lives at work. It is therefore essential to experience security and belonging, not only for our wellbeing, but also to perform well. A large part of working life involves improvisation: listening, being present, and responding in the moment. Kulturkompaniet leads a workshop where we practise active listening, presence and improvisation, offering simple, practical tools for good dialogue at work. The workshop is led by Mina Saunte and Espen Kvark Kvernbergh.

Hedvig Montgomery on the functioning family
All relationships involve negotiation, but what do we do when friction arises or when the feeling of not being enough takes over? The conflict-free family does not exist, nor should it be the goal. Becoming good at listening and speaking together is crucial for a functional family.
In this session, Hedvig Montgomery explores what it means to be parents together, how we can meet children at different ages, and how dialogue is challenged by screen time and divided attention.

The National Mediation Service on conflict resolution when things get tough
The National Mediation Service facilitates meetings between people on opposite sides of a conflict, an unwanted incident, or a criminal offence. This evening, they will share their methodology through a talk and in dialogue with the audience. You’ll hear stories from the mediation room and receive advice on how you can foster better dialogue in your own relationships when things become difficult, for instance with teenagers around you.
