Good Night Gaza - Stories from Palestine for Children
Good Night Gaza contains Palestinian tales and songs that can be read both from left to right, in Arabic or Norwegian. During the winter break, the Nobel Peace Center, Plan Norway, and Megafon Publishing invite you to a reading session, where a small selection of stories from the book will be read to the children, in both Norwegian and Arabic. The stories will be read by Asmaa Salim and Karoline Dons. A large version of the book Good Night Gaza will also be on display at the Nobel Peace Center for the occasion.
Asmaa Salim is a journalist, librarian, and Palestinian from Gaza. She studied Arabic literature and journalism in Gaza, and contemporary literature for children and young adults at the Norwegian Institute for Children's Literature. She works at Deichman Stovner and Romsås.
Actress Karoline Dons from Tromsø earned her bachelor’s degree in musical theatre from Artisten in Gothenburg in 2020. After completing her studies, she has had roles such as Lena in Så som i himmelen at Nordland Theatre and Svetlana in Chess at Helsingborg Arena. Karoline is currently recording audiobooks in the department for adapted literature at the National Library and is very excited to read some of the beautiful stories from Good Night Gaza at the reading session at the Nobel Peace Center.
On the opening day, Wednesday, 19 February, we will also hear Kari Helene Partapuoli talk a little about the project "Good Night Gaza". Kari Helene Partapuoli has been the Secretary General of Plan International Norway since 2018. She has previously been the leader of the Development Fund and the Anti-Racist Centre. Partapuoli is a social anthropologist and has spent her entire career working for gender equality and children's rights.
For those who speak Norwegian or Arabic, or both. The story will first be read in Norwegian, then repeated in Arabic. 3-4 stories will be read.
Registration
It is free to participate, but we recommend registering in advance. Choose the date you wish to attend. If you want access to the museum's exhibitions, an entrance ticket must be purchased separately. As always, children under 18 years have free admission to the museum!
