Ten years after the signing of Colombia’s historic Peace Agreement, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Juan Manuel Santos will reflect on the country’s journey from conflict towards peace and the lessons it offers at a time of renewed global conflict and geopolitical uncertainty.

He will highlight the importance of political courage, dialogue, and reconciliation, while recognizing the central role of victims, communities, and former combatants in Colombia’s peacebuilding process. He will also reflect on the contribution of the international community, including Norway’s longstanding engagement as a guarantor and partner throughout the negotiation and implementation of the Agreement. Amidst rising violence and growing pressure on multilateral cooperation, the address will reaffirm Colombia’s experience as a reminder that negotiated solutions remain possible and that lasting peace requires perseverance, sustained international support, and a long-term commitment to transforming the conditions that give rise to conflict.
