Nobel Peace Center voted Best Sponsorship Opportunity of the Year

01.02.2012

The Norwegian Sponsor and Event Association’s SPOT Award 2012 was given to the Nobel Peace Center for its integrated and long-term collaboration with sponsors.

“This is an award we really cherish! Close partnership with our sponsors enables us to ensure a high quality of exhibitions and events for the almost 200,000 visitors who come here every year,” says Bente Erichsen, Director of the Nobel Peace Center.

The Center’s main sponsors are Hydro, Telenor, Orkla and ABB. Along with subsidies from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture, sponsor revenues form the backbone that keeps the Peace Center going.

“Our sponsors deserve a great deal of credit for the award. We have an excellent partnership and maintain continuous dialogue in an effort to find new possibilities for drawing on each other’s expertise and qualities. The sponsors are crucial to our operation because their support gives us freedom to create exciting attractions for our visitors. Our long-term sponsorship strategy helped us get nominated last year and we are delighted to have won the competition this year,” says Bente Erichsen.

On the jury were: Karen Onsager, Senior Vice President, Communications and CR at Hafslund; Morten Paus, General Manager at Komon-Stageway; Øistein Mjærum, Director, Communications and Fundraising at the Norwegian Red Cross; Thomas Tveteraas Helgø, President, Emergence School of Leadership; Linnéa Svensson, Head of Programs and Project Development at Eyeworks Dinamo and Rune Gutteberg Hansen, Vice President Corporate Communications at Statnett.

The SPOT 2012 jury’s grounds for their decision: The winner of the Best Sponsorship Opportunity of the Year award for 2012 has a solid strategy behind all its decisions. This strategy has reaped benefits; major partners that are stable and deeply loyal even when the choice of Peace Prize laureate is considered controversial. The partners are well integrated in the Center’s work – but the Center is adamant that they themselves maintain control of their exhibitions. This year’s Sponsorship Opportunity is an important institution in Oslo and for Norway. The jury praise the long-term nature of the Center’s sponsorship policy and work and believe the Nobel Peace Center greatly deserves the award as Best Sponsorship Opportunity of the Year.
