10 years after Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, what kind of knowledge do we need to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement?
Meet the Chair of the IPCC, Dr. Hoesung Lee, and several other internationally leading scientists from the IPCC, and engage in a debate about what kind of knowledge and skills tomorrow’s science and work force needs for the world to reach the goals of the Paris climate agreement.
5 pm: Welcome and introduction by Liv Tørres, director of the Nobel Peace Centre.
5.10 pm: Talks by IPCC Chair, Dr. Hoesung Lee, and other leading IPCC experts, on issues such as the status of climate science, climate change impacts on human security and adaptation, and what it takes of emissions reductions to reach the Paris agreement goals.
6-6.30 pm: Discussion (in Norwegian):
What kind of knowledge and skills do tomorrow’s science and work force needs for the world to reach the goals of the Paris climate agreement? We invite representatives from universities, research, businesses and politics, and invite the public to participate in the discussions.
